I own a 2005 ML 270 CDi with factory fitted tyres 275/55/R17. I would like to know if it is okay to switch to a different size of tyres all round i.e. 265/55/17.

That will change the rolling radius, which isn't ideal, and especially so if you plan to replace anything other than all 4/

You need to check the actual dimensions of the wheels for compatibility, but 255/60 17 should be suitable as they were the standard fitment on facelift cars.

Welcome to the forum!!

my 2004 ML came with 255/60/17, my friends 05 ML runs on this size also, the other size option for the 17'' rims is the 275/55/17, I have just put Grabber AT2's on mine and had to vary size slightly to 255/65/17 to get the required H rating, but they are less than 1'' larger overall and fit fine with plenty of clearance everwhere

Thank you so much for your advice and welcome. It's much appreciated. I will certainly look into changing over to the 255/60/17. Great to know as the dealership rep in SA was adamant that I should stay with the 275. Kind regards, jacques
