tyre size for my c140 coupe

hi guys .. i have just purchased 19 inch rims for my motor,,, 9.5*19 on rear and 8.5*19 on front. i have been told that i would need 285 35 19 on rear and 255 40 19 on front, however my brother has an 03 cl55 amg kompressor which also has 19" rims, he has changed his tyres and has his old ones in the garage all with 4/5mm tread these sizes are as follows 275 35 19 on rears and 245 40 19 on fronts, would this size be sufficient for my car for the time being( would it look odd),,,,,, cheers

285x35x19 for the rear and 255x40x19 on the front are correct.

Plugging the numbers in, your alternative rears are 4.8% smaller than the ones listed above in rolling radius and fronts are 4.9% smaller. Since they are near as damn it the same front to back you could fit the set, the cruise "should" still work but your speedo will be out. I say should work, no guarantee "should" be implied.

I've fallen foul of too small a tyre being fitted, but mine are on the front only, at least yours will be slightly smaller front and back by the same amount.

The 245/275 sizes are for the W220/C215. They will work fine but aren't strictly correct for the 140. The latest W221 reverts back to the 140 sizes, meaning that tyre prices in those sizes should be much better than last year.
