So I am stationary in my work van, foot brake on, at red traffic lights. Young woman behind me in an Astra is also stationary, until she softly bumps me. No problem I thought, I have rear steps on my van so the chance of any damage is minimal and it was such a light bump I presumed her foot slipped off the clutch. So I get out to check-No damage to my van and no damage to her car. She stays in her car smiling at me, I nod to acknowledge all is ok. Get back into van and not ten seconds later, exactly the same thing happens. Mental woman! Didn't bother getting out of van this time. The lights change and I'm off-very slowly as lots of traffic, in the right hand lane (of two) to turn right at the next lights (100m up the road). My bumper car friend then drives on the other side of the road and cuts into me causing me to slam Vauxhall's finest brakes on, or have my front bumper removed. How the hell can she bump me twice and then cut in front? Surely she must have been p***ed or a crack head!! Bizzarre! My jaw remained dropped for about five mins afterwards.

In my limited experience, young women drivers tend to be either very, very good - or very, very bad - with not allot in between.
You were unlucky to get one of the later - on a bad day.

In hindsight, maybe I should have taken her registration and made a phone call to the boys in blue-God only knows what mayhem she may have caused further down the road.

Totally agree with this one end of the scale or the other. The number of young women I would not let get in a training/race car because of agression you would not believe. The younger ones are worse than their male peers as is proven by the accident statistics South Yorkshire Police showed us on our visit.

Tis the season to be jolly, probably had one sherry too many.

Unbelievable!

Did you just say that young women are worse drivers than young men?

Doesn't this fly in the face of 'conventional wisdom' (insurance companies)?

the 2nd time she had bumped me at the lights i would have had to have words with her as she would of already pi$$ed me off with her lack of caring the 1st time (ie didnt get out of car).

Sounds pi$$ed to me, or on drugs.

Should have taken her reg.

No sorry I should have explained a little more. Going back 5 years young men 17 - 19 were 5 times more likley to have an accident than the same age group amongst young women. In 2008 the figure was 3 times morely likely and the accident rate amongst young women drivers had increased dramatically. So statistically young men are still the higher risk but young women are catching them fast.

After the second bump I'd have called old bill there and then and told them what was happening.

Right. Thanks, but a shame they've not caught us up already.

I pulled up at some lights the other day, and a girl in a Saxo shunted me from behind. It was only minor, and when I got out to have a look, there was no damage (apart from the fact she had parted the sea of muck on my rear bumper).

Nevertheless I thought I'd say something, and when she wound her window down, she said "Did I hit your car?".

"Yes", said I.

She started to look like she was going to cry, so I walked off because if I wanted a crying woman, I can get one for free at home.

Point is - how do you drive into someone and not realise??

Young men drive too fast, take chances and have nice big expensive accidents.
Young women never know which lane to be in, have no spatial awareness and think bumpers are so called because that what you use them for when parking.

WOMEN.................DONT DRIVE...............This is no hotpoint dishwasher, this is a sophisticated motor vehicle, something you know little about.......

This story sounds familiar to me - I've been bumped a couple of times(without damage) and the daft bints driving haven't even bothered getting out of their cars. They seem to think that smiling or looking remorseful and timid gets them out of it. Rolling back from junctions is another - handbrake off, and off we go - the wrong way into the front of me! I always allow plenty of space, especially it its a Micra/Mini/Pug/Jap Microcar of some sort and I suspect a bird is driving.

I've have called the feds in this situation tho - I don't take crap like that - even if its a sheila driving.

They should stick to flowers, ribbons and little fluffy kittens if you ask me.

Now where's me dinner?

You sound like some of our customers! I answer the phone sometimes but I'm also parts girlie but I couldn't possibly answer a technical question

I like it more when Amy gets the chauvinists though, she's a qualified mechanic and often runs rings around the mechanics from the 'small local' garages that only see 1 smart a year! :D

20yr old stepson has managed to win 9 points in under 2 yrs driving so has had to give his license back to DVLA whereas his sister has just 3 in the same time frame! I've been driving 11 yrs and haven't had any!

I know someone who was car-jacked in central london a few years ago in similar circumstances, although not by a smiling young lady!
