SLK55 AMG on PistonHeads

OK, so it's a VERY low mileage, possible one-off vehicle.
Yes, it's been modified by AMG with their LSD and some Black Series goodies.
However, at £50,000, I think the seller believes that he can get his claimed £23k outlay back!
At the end of the day, it's still a prefacelift SLK55.

I'm possibly being a bit harsh, considering it's a gorgeous, will-specc'ed, low mileage car. But I just believe it's too much money!

I open the discussion to the MBClub floor :D

The guy's in dreamland. Why is that people who spend loads of money on extras for their cars think that they will get it all back and more when they sell it years down the line? Should be more like £25-30K if he's lucky IMHO!

I have issue with people trying to sell premium cars at top price but yet write such poor advertisments. I gave more details when selling my £3k CLK!

It is a lovely car, all said and done.

For 50K you can get a very good SL55 or C63 with higher mileage.
Or you can just buy a basic SLK55 and still have change for an E55.

Nice car, silly price.

Agreed, it is a very very nice looking car and is very similar to the colour combination to my car......:thumb:

However I know which one I'd prefer for a lot less money and I too have 6 pot clipers, 19" alloys, factory LSD etc etc. What I cant understand is why pay for these "performance" enhancements and then not use it!!!!

Fully adjustable race suspenssion (sic)

Sounds like he's trying to build a track car, so maybe the 3350 miles, accounts for 200+ laps of the Nürburgring!

Its nice but why spend all that money and do 3000 miles?

How much quicker would it be than a standard SLK55 you can have for almost half that price?

Doubt anyone would pay that.

Seeing as it was modfied with Black Series goodies one could make an educated guess that the engine upgrade is that applied to the Black Series, too.
For the SLK, that was an upgrade to 400bhp. The SLK BS wasn't that much quicker than standard.
IIRC, quoted 0-100km/h was ~4.7sec for the standard car and 4.5sec for the BS.
The BS also had a derestriction to 175mph (again, IIRC).
Considering the genuine BS had the electric roof removed, a power upgrade and other weight-saving, it's not a huge performance advantage.

Obviously all the above blurb is mere speculation and educated guessing, so I could be completely wrong :o

Why is de-restricting the engine considered as tuning and is extra :dk:
Surely if you are reprograming the engine managment software to not restrict your car to 155mph is a ten minute job (including coffee break)? Or have I missed something fundamental here, aside from a cunning wheeze to extract extra dosh from the poor man in the street for practically nothing.

Alledgedly, my 32amg unrestricted will crack nigh on 180mph so it’s said somewhere, and that is I believe, in standard trim? (not that I'd want to try it of course) :)
