Urgent - Advice needed

What about MB parts dept buddy , in case it’s genuine fitment ?
It looks like a genuine fitment straight out of factory. Have called main dealers but they only have one guy who is allowed to work on electric cars and he is on sick leave ! so no joy there ! The pipe does not smell of anything and the area is completely dry, so no fluid leak.... Bizzare !

To me, this looks more like a shielding tube, protecting what's running inside, rather than actual pipe or hose.
I am coming round to that thought as nothing has come out of it and there is no smell of anything nasty. Cannot figure out where it goes too, it disappears into the rear seat area, i am definately not taking that lot apart !

So the op has produced a picture and nobody knows what it is,could this be a first, just dob't ask me have not a clue, weirdly the drain off from the battery goes into the black plastic housing and so does the silver pipe
It surely cannot be fuel, Benz would not take that risk right next to a live battery. Air con still working fine, there is no smell or any type of fluid leak. Looks like a genuine factory fit piece but never seen another S class with this in place.

Something to do with airmatic maybe? Also, Google that part number on the metal bracket, it might provide a clue.

There a similar tube attached to this S300 hybrid's battery:

That looks exactly like it... so would you say its a drain of some sort?

I can only speculate still but my money would be on it being an additional breather and / or possibly a vent for cooling for the hybrid battery.

I suspect the MB hybrid mechanic will know or could find out.

Maybe get a price for a replacement part as it looks quite easy to change.

Either a cooling vent or condensation drain for the hybrid battery. as above . replacement video shows there is nothing running inside it as far as I can see.

So, the plot thickens, slightly!
I am now thinking, like many others on this thread, that it is a drain channel for the battery... so just to make sure, i popped the OBD2 reader on car to see what, if anything, was going on... wish i had not bothered!!

So the picture shows two errors, one is to do with a turbocharger ? the other is the BMS (Battery Management System) which incidentally is directly linked/attached to the same pipe i accidentally damaged.
I have tried to clear the error but to no avail, cannot understand why it will not clear if its only a drainage channel.......

Now i really am confused.

I doubt those faults are to do with the pipe. They may have been there all the time. You need the actual fault codes to see if its something minor or otherwise

Yep, true. I could not get any codes to show up which was strange. The car is in the garage tomorow as one of the rear seat belts has locked in place and needs to be freed off.... this is turning slowly into a bit of a mare !!!

let us know the outcome as its a bit of a puzzle

What does it do?

Some sort of drain, vent, exhaust, breather for the High Voltage battery.

My advice is take it to a dealer and get them to change it and check it.
The battery is around 396 volt so not to be messed with.

Yes, absolutely. I will have to go to the dealership next week as they need to see the car to "pair" it to my Mercedes Me account. If you read the thread you will see i made a tiny hole in the pipe, which i have now sealed with a steel putty, by all accounts the putty is excellent stuff and should do the job perfectly. I'm glad its nothing to do with fuel, however if its a battery vent/drain then that could be an issue in the making.
Strangely, i did a fault code read on the car yesterday and the BMS showed up (see pic) which is directly attributed to the battery.... so im now wondering if i have an underlying issue here....
