Need to utilise these Thursday evening so thought I'd fit them tonight.

Disaster! One securing bolt is missing!

Does anyone have access to the parts database please thus giving me the part number of the bolt so I can call MB and see if they have one in (slim chance I know) The bars are the Alustyle Basic Carrier Bars (100kg)

Even slimmer chance question - anybody have a set of these bars who could loan me one of the bolts for the weekend? Would be hugely appreciated.

Thanks all

Assuming they're Thule as most OEM ones are you could probably <cough> hire one from Halfords.

They are the pukka MB branded ones - so they are rebadged Thule?

Trawling the EPC shows no evidence of even the roof bars never mind a specific part from them. I would be surprised if the bolt was available separately. Would a simple hex head bolt not suffice till you could get the correct one. A picy would help...

I have a couple of set of roof bars in my garage Steve. You are welcome to come round and see if they fit. Have had them fitted to a C250 and a 124.

I'd prefer to use the pukka MB ones as they do not actually "touch" the car. But thanks as always John. Appreciated

Looks like a fairly standard S/S socket head cap screw to me. Take one along to your nearest fasteners supplier and see if they can match it.

Only place that is still open by time I finish work is Screwfix - online says they have M6 but 20mm maximum length. I of course need 40mm!!!!

There is a really good fasteners place in Preston called Allthreads who are likely to have what I want - but I don't get home in time. Curses!

Is your M6 the thread size or the Allen key size? I have an M8 (thread) by 40mm capscrew here which could find it's way into an envelope asap.

Threadsize :( But thanks

However, the Most-Helpful-Man-On-The-Forum (aka TrapperJohn) is going to pop into the fastener place for me today and see if they have one. I pass his house on the way home so all may yet be well!

Excellent. Please pass on my regards when you see him.

Trapperjohn is a legend! He very kindly picked it up for me and I have collected (he was out but had left it for me) :thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:

I love this forum!

P.S. The MB ones are about 2mm shorter that 40mm but took a look and I don't think that will be an issue
