Hi, I am just at the start of my european trip and I've arrived at my hotel in stuttgart. The problem is I have had to disconnect my battery (for reasons too long to go into) and as a result I have lost the code for the radio/cd.
No problem usually, but the code is tucked away in with my service books etc back in Glasgow! and I'll have to go another 12 days without any tunes if I cannot get the code.
Can anyone get the code from the vin no? if so, can you post it on here for me? I'll check again over the next couple of days.
It's an SLK230 and the vin no is WDB1704472F068181.
Cheers Billy.

does anybody know the serial number as i have the becker 10 code finder and what i mean is the serial number for it in the vin number itself but if it is not becker i do have a few other stereo code finders

I have taken the head unit out (got to love the swiss army knife!) and the numbers on the unit are. Model MF2297 A170 820 0086, Serial No AL 2297 V 11 64258. Does this come up on your finder Scooter?

Thanks for the other replies too. I left Stuttgart after a quick round of the new Porsche Museum, but I did not pass any MB dealers, now I'm in the middle of the swiss alps and about to do the Stelvio Pass in the morning, again, no MB dealers around here.

if the code you are looking for is a 5 digit code all my code finder are saying 42344 but if it is a 4 digit code they are saying 2748 I hope this works for you you need something to listen to while out and about

It is an Alpine unit! If you try too many of those Becker codes your radio gets to the "WAIT" state. If you were at the Porsche museum, you would have found an MB dealer before finding your hotel room internet connection.

Thanks for the replies, I have found it is an alpine unit with a 5 digit code. I put in the code you gave me scooter (and thanks for your help) but it did not work. On the road again tomorrow so I might see a dealer in my travels. I would not have had the sounds on today anyway, Stevio Pass done with the roof down and aircon on my feet. Don't suppose I'll ever do that again. Hey ho. . .

Well, I'm back now, and thought I'd give a wee update. I did not see an MB dealer until I was driving in Monaco and to be honest it looked sooooo posh I didn't go in to try and get the code for the 11 year old radio in my 11 year old car!
I ended up putting the code in when I got home.
Over the trip I covered 2469 miles, bought 363 litres of 95 ron (near 80 uk gallons) and got an average of 30.9mpg. The car did not miss a beat, use any oil or water and came back unscaithed, despite the best efforts of the drivers of Nice!

I have attached a few pics.

All in a great trip, and a fab experience. The only thing I would say is the Stelvio Pass is NOT one of the greatest driving roads as according to the top gear mob. Stunning and challenging at times, but I reckon the Isle of Man TT circuit is a far better drive, and a lot closer!

Hope you've enjoyed my (no so) wee post.

Regards Billy.

wow, what a trip mate..

u have inspired me to take the misses away..

Mate, if you have an itinery of the route u took, the windy roads look like the roads that Top Gear did a few series ago.. awesome.

please PM me about your trip.. or what logistics u arranged or crossing over from UK - Mainland etc.

Some do the Stelvio pass at night, without lights (I think this was posted before):

Looks like you had a great trip, enough to enjoy while radio switched off.

I did all of the planning through Google Maps. DFDS ferry Newcastle (S Shields) to Ijmuiden (Amsterdam) then straight to Stuttgart, one night, Porsche Museum,

and then on to Santa Maria Val Mustair in Switzerland, passing a couple of lovely little villages such as this.

It's around here that the alpine passes are. Here is a pic of the view from our balcony in the morning.

Two nights and then off to Padova near Venice for four nights.
We went to Venice for the day and I proposed to my girlfriend on the Rialto bridge on the Grand Canal.

Thankfully she said yes, or the rest of trip might not have been so enjoyable!
After Padova it was on to Nice for two nights, a day in Monaco

EuroTrip09367.jpg

and a lap of the F1 circuit rounded that off and then on to Nancy just as a stop over for one night and then north to Amsterdam.

EuroTrip09393.jpg

We had two nights in Amsterdam to sample the dubious delights of the nightlife there, and then it was the Imuiden ferry home.

If you are going to go, be aware that the prices for food and drink are beyond belief, particularly in Nice. Try 11euros for two 250ml draft beers! or 5 euros for a can of Coke!
EuroTrip09383.jpg

or 6.30 euros for a bottle of Bud!
EuroTrip09348.jpg

Hope this info helps you decide to go, despite the rip off prices in some parts, it was an experience I throughly enjoyed and will never forget.

Regards Billy.

PS the petrol prices in europe are high too. Try 1.24 euro a litre to 1.48 a litre (6 quid a gallon!) depending on the country you're in.

Fazer thou, nice bike. I was into the bikes myself for 35 years! my last was a KTM LC6 Supermoto, mega fun.

The road in the pic is the coast road from Nice to Monaco. There is a motorway link, but the coast road is much more scienic and of course you can stop for a pic or two. I even met a couple of bikers from london who were touring in the area that I stopped
Here are another couple from that road
