Using Auto Lights

D'a know, that was the only thing I was dissapointed in with my car, no auto wipers - what's up with that in a car on a 54 plate??!

Then, when your wipers scream across a dry dusty screen with the possibility of scratches........

Yes, I know they should be turned off when parking up but who remembers all the time? Nice feature at times, but on balance

I tend not to use the automatic light feature in my 211. The reason is that whiist they work as they should, I find that they come on when I do not really need them, and stay on for too long.
I found that I would regularly have to charge the new battery when the 'no consumables' warning came on in the clocks. All of the software updates have been done, however since not using this feature I have had no problems with the battery at all. I must add that the car does a lot of fairly short journeys.

I normally have the lights on auto on the Vito. They do tend to come on sometimes when it's actually pretty light, and the 'clever' circuitry then means they won't go off ... even if you drive into bright sunlight. I also tend to turn them off manually if I'm defrosting etc. ... bit stupid sitting there with the headlights on.

It's also the case with the Vito that you can't operate the foglights with the lights on auto, which is pretty daft IMO.

I agree re. the rain sensitive wipers ... the pain is remembering to switch them off afterwards. My SL came with a scratched screen thanks to the previous owner forgetting to do that on a regular basis.
