V Power Petrol Prices

On last fill V-Power petrol was £1.41 and V-Power diesel was £1.49 at Shell Epping and I'm getting 3% off as we switched to their energy so it comes cheaper.

So whats with the discounts with the shell do you take out one of those card they are trying to give me when i go in there?

I use the app on my phone rather than have a physical card. I pay with my phone as well, so far had a couple of pounds off and free coffee/chocolate.

You can also carbon offset for free until october. Then you can carry on if you wish but you pay an extra 0.5p per litre.

With Shell Go card every 10th visit (you can have 3 visits per day) you’ll get a reward and you’ll have a discount on other products

This evening in Midlands, regular Shell unleaded was 127.9p and Vpower was 141.9p so 14p premium. This seems consistent between filling stations.

The Shell app is worth trying. A few clicks from inside the car, refill and go, without having to go inside or touch anything (I use gloves for handling the pump).

"So far Morrisons have not offered compensation and told us to go through insurance"

I am assuming Morrisons meant that drivers should submit claims to Morrisons' insurers.

(Because it would make no sense for drivers to try and claim off their own policies - this isn't an 'insured event' on a motor policy).

Near me Shell V power is :-
Gas Prices
Regular
$2.90
Midgrade
$3.35
Premium
$3.70
Diesel
$3.20
Price per gallon (US.) or for about 4 litres a pop.

This is a major reason why I won’t buy fuel from supermarkets, they do not stand behind the fuel they supply. I buy fuel from one of the majors and have the payment records to prove it in the event of fuel related issues, which in today’s cars can be very expensive to rectify.

If it had been diesel, I suspect the repair costs on any modern diesels would have been much higher than just a pump-out, flush and refill.

I doubt Morrisons would try to evade liability for this simple mistake; perhaps they should go through the contractor's insurers...

You’d have a hell of a time proving that their fuel damaged your car. You have no way of proving that you never used an additive, paid cash for supermarket fuel, topped your tank from the lawnmower fuel can.....etc

Customers that always buy their fuel from Morrison’s and have evidence, might be In with a chance…

Maybe, maybe not.

I don't pay for anything with my phone ( its not the newest, iphone 5 and i don't want it hacked ) I use the Esso garage by me as i can stick a card into it and no need to go inside and queue with shoppers mucking about for 15 minutes and I use gloves of course. But i will go to the shell garage to see about the loyalty card, i did have one about 6 years ago but just chucked it. Thanks for the info.

It's a civil, not a criminal matter. Nobody has to 'prove' anything; liability is decided on balance of probabilities.

You mean that fuel that comes through the same supply chain, comes from the same tanks, transported in the same tankers and ultimate comes out of the same well in the gulf (<insert any oil producing nation or area here>) as all the other fuel?

Nothing wrong with supermarket fuel, i've used nothing but in my car since July and never once had a problem. In fact when filling near home, i've used supermarket fuel since I moved to this area 11 years ago (both diesel and petrol).

The whole supermarket/branded argument has been done to death and is total b*llocks.

Whatever....

“My engine is broken, it was your petrol”.
Shell/BP et al : ”Go away”.

Is the best you can do "Whatever"? You're not a lawyer, I take it.
