i recently bought a 1997 v230 as i need space for a wheelchair, it is my first merc and on the whole i am quite happy, however the engine does not like to restart when still warm. it will start perfectly when cold and will start when hot if you restart imediately after switching it off but if you leave it for any length of time it will not start unless you hold the throttle right down and even then it can take several attempts, it seems to be flooding after being switched off ?? i have checked the air filter and it is fine, the plugs are sooty. i added an injector cleaner to the fuel and it seems to have slightly improved the problem. would be grateful for any ideas. many thanks.

It could be a number of things such as low fuel pressure but sooty plugs indicates rich mixture so have the lamda probe checked out.
