Going to view an sl55 this week. I have checked the vin and this confirms it to be a genuine "F1". 57 plate with 60k on the clock. My fave combo of black /red and fully loaded. Front discs have been replaced but the history of the bouncy bits is unknown. I know the dealer and every single one of his cars is immaculate so I guess this will be the same. However the asking price seems high to me at £30k.(he never budges on his prices and sells loads of cars) Whist I appreciate that value is in the eye of the beholder I wonder whether any experts on this model can gie me a view on the price? Many thanks Pete

I would have thought 27-28k would be more like it ,if it had done 40,000 rather than 60,000 then it would be worth it

There was a thread on here not too long ago, a guy trying to sell his privately. He had his head in the clouds a bit and was holding out for £30k I think, or something like that, and didn't get a sniff. I'll try to find the thread...

Edit: Found it; it was a Brabus SL55. Anyway, might be of some interest.

At the end of the day, something is only worth what someone will pay. If you choose to pay £30k that's your prerogative and don't let anyone tell you you are wrong. However, if other cars are for sale for less money, then keep your eyes open.

Thanks for pointing that car out an interesting sl. Obviously a rare car but I have often found that rarity does not always translate into desirability or value. Interestingly there is another "F1" on evilbay 05 plate but 90k miles at £20k. Seems relatively good value but the mileage is more than I wanted. Will do some more research.

^ Don't be put off by 90k miles on a 55k engine. Provided correct servicing schedules have been kept to, the engine will be perfect.

Thanks for that I presumed that the relatively high mileage would not be a problem as far as the motor is concerned .Obviously items like the front disks and the suspension system may be a problem unless as you say maintenance has been kept up with. Might be worth a look.

I wouldn't rule it out. Obviously close inspection of those expensive discs and other ancillaries and a negotiation in price dependant on condition.
Good luck finding one you are happy with.
