Yeah always looks alot worse than it is when you see a load of cable like that.

So long as the speed pulse is pin 1 on the iso I will be happy. Probably wont tackle for a while (Sunday) as all the phonos will be laid etc for the amp.

Going to make a new boot floor so the amp can sit under the floor and then need to do some sort of solid shelf to keep out prying eyes from the boot.

Quite a bit to do really...

Thanks Graham.

Decided to take it out the box to have a look and see whats involved.

Just the 3 manuals to read

Everything is as I thought with the main problem being laying the wires through the car trunking and position of the hide away unit.

Next problem as Shude said is where to put the dam sat nav receiver?

Graham where did you put yours. Anyone with a similar type nav setup?

Cheers

Shaun

Somewhat lacking in the parcel shelf department. Although I will be making one it must be removeable.

Hi Shude,
Does your documentation show where the receiver is concealed on the newer estates?

Something somewhere is saying under the rear vallance but that is most probably wrong.

All I know is that it is not on the visible exterior.

I have a W203 hidden antenna in my car, fixed in the parcel shelf.

I believe estate and cabrio models have the antenna hidden in the dashboard, the signal passes easily through plastic. There is a surprising amount of room in there :)

I've got an estate and my gps antenna is mounted on the panel in front of the radiator just behind the grille which gives by far the best reception on my car. I also tried attaching it to the front bumper mounts but it wasn't as good.

Mine is attached to the main stress member which runs behind my glove box. The factory fitment for a CLK cabrio appears to be on the boot lid with a small mouse like object on the outside! If I knew what the part numbers were, I'd buy them and do mine like the proper OEM installation.

It is true though that the signal will go through anything except metal.

Well decided to kick my backside into gear tonight after work and decided to make a start in fitting it. As the nav will get a good test going to th GTG in later today.

As yet I have not put the GPS receiver in a fixed location but all wires are well hidden.

Phono's are trunked down right hand side and wires to hide away unit are trunked down centre of car under back seat. Then the unit is in the boot floor directly behind the seat. in the centre of pic below where phono leads cross.

Driver seat had to come out wich was ok except the clip broke that secures the air pipe to the seat  Need to go to MB and get one now.

All being well will have the amp fitted in the morning.

Initially I am very impressed with the sound qulaity even through the standard MB speakers and stereo defenition is superb.
