VIN number under windscreen

Hi,

in the process of having my windscreen replaced, I got the VIN number partially erased...

Apart from being annoyed by such unprofessional service, can I get in trouble for this? MOT, police?

In case I should get the sticker replaced, where can I get this done?

What a pain - no not a legal requirement to have it visible though the windscreen, the windscreen cut out is mainly for convenience, the VIN is also embossed in the engine compartment - usually by the radiator on the cross strut on an aluminium plate.

Preferable not to have it on display to Allan Sundry .

Depending on age it will be stamped into bulkhead or chassis leg , as well as on ID plate on landing panel or inner wing , older vehicles on A pillar .
