Hi to all,
For those who have seen my New Members Introduction you may have seen that i'm looking for information on whether i can fit the seats mounts/brackets(not tracking) that you find in a dualiner into my panel van without major alteration??
I've been told that you should be able to find the nuts for the brackets under the floor as they are standard to all vans? I'm beginning to have doubt's about it & starting to think i might have to get the floorpan from a dualiner welded in!!
Has anyone got any ideas? As i'm beginning to run out of ideas other than drill holes in the floor somewhere in the vicinity as i've got the measurements
(i Think they are right) of where they should sit

I've just got a 639 Vito 115 in as it happens so I'll have a look in the morning for you and let you know.

Hi Big Un!

I'm not sure if you can retro-fit the seats into the van (although I should think it is possible).

Drilling the floor and adding nuts and bolts as a diy project is fraught with danger.
I have seats in the rear of our Sprinter which were professionally installed, and when viewing from underneath the vehicle, there is a serious amount of plating and fixings to secure the seat tracks in place.

Even if you did manage to sucessfully perform the installation to the correct standard, your insurance company would decline cover without a certificate of safe installation by a professional outfit.

HTH. :)

Paul.

Many van insurance companies take a dim view of ANY modifications, even if certificated.

Indeed. If I have ever changed my insurance provider and I state the van has five seats, they always request the installation certificate (I must remember to find the cert for the next owner).

Many thanks Paul, more food for thought. And something i'd not really thought about! I've been to pre-occupied wondering on how to do it rather than the whole picture.

There are plenty of companies that install seating for the minibus and coach trade and you'll get a certificate from a pro-installer.

If the floorpan in the Vito recieved the seats in a straigtforward way (this may be do-able at a main dealership and thus carry pro-installation standards) there may not too much of a problem, but as BTB says, the insurance providers are are nervous of modifications, so best to ask first.

Hi big un I to have just bought a 2007 panel van and wantto put seats in the rear I have been told that if you remove the ply floor the then you have to use 10mm bar or some thing to help you fit the bars to the floor if you look on eBay there is a silver dueliner withe seat fitted to rear he has routerd out the ply hand seats are fitted nice can you let me have any info you have thanks

Hi deeppockets, Yes mate i've already got the ply floor out & have got the proper dualiner cushion floor along with the seat mounts! As i said in the initial thread i was told the bolts are in the floorpan from the factory and its just a case of finding them!!

Sounds plausible to me. Check you use the correct torque settings if that's the case.

So are the holes in the floor pan ready for the seat rails?? Can you let me have the measurement? Where did you get the flooring from bud?? Was main agent job

Yes the floor is from Mertrux but what you will find that in all their wisdom Mercedes have now decided to make all the floors the same whether you have a dualiner/traveliner or in fact anything else liner Lol!! In fact you will find there are no holes cut out for your seat mounts or strapping points! Oh and it only comes for a single sliding side door(must be a german model) so you will have to be careful when removing the ply floor cause you will need it as a template! i'll look for a part number & will let you know

It depends on whether, like me use the original floor to go on top of the new floor as a boot liner cause i tend to carry mine & mates fishing tackle,so i put that in cause not everyone is as careful as me when loading up! & besides the floors are around 440 pounds!!! Is your van a Lwb or a Swb??

Sen I want section the part offbehind the seats for tools!

There are no holes in the floor of a van, the floor is un drilled and no cage nuts.
The channels are there so spacing is no problem you cannot go wrong there and they are inline with the side door step.

I can supply what you need to fit them.

I had a look under the 115 that I've got and I couldn't see any sort of fitments/brackets/holes etc?

Thats right, nothing is there and no assess.
They go in the rails in the floor, one in each, i only fitted three, I just missed out the middle driver side.
You need a hole in the top of the rail and slide 10mm flat bar with the holes drilled and tapped.
Makes it stronger than from the factory!

Here is a picture, no way you can see it is retro fit.
All seats 2010.

First of all many thanks to both Zenman63 & Sweetpea for there help.

But when you were on about the hole you had to cut were abouts did you cut the hole & how big was it, to be able to accept the bar? sounds like it would need to big? And you mentioned the steel bar what grade does it need to be, if any? & what width do you need?
Sorry there are so many questions but i just want to make sure i get it right 1st time
