vito glow plug/relay prob ?

my 02 vito wont start, the glow plug light comes on when ignition switched on, goes off then comes on permanently, sometimes starts straight away but mostly takes ages, is there a way of telling if its glow plugs or relay thats at fault, if its relay how much and wheres best place to buy.

A CDi should really start without glow plugs at all, but it sounds as if yours needs them on.

To test either unscrew them and test off the battery or use a multimeter to check for power and resistance.

how do i test for power/resistance, have got multi meter and should set to ohlms what readings should i expect and where shall i take readings from

Either disconnect the main relay connector and probe there or disconnect each plug and probe.

Set the meter to resistance/continuity, connect -ve to the body/engine and use the +ve to test.

To check for power is similar but the meter set to accept 12v dc.
