Is there a way to regulate the volume for the TAs only? My problem is that I like to listen to my MP3 player on a journey, and this connects through the jack plug into the AUX selection on the radio. To maintain battery life, I use the MP3 player at about 75% volume, which necessitates turning the volume on the audio up above normal levels. When a TA interrupts, however, it does so at a regular volume which, because I have the audio vol on high, is very loud.

I'd like to lower the TA volume while I'm using the MP3 player. Anyone have any ideas? Don't suggest I get an iPod though

Couldn't see anything in the manual, so thanks in advance.

Why can't you use the iPod cable for the UMI as it charges the iPod? or did you not get/buy those?

I have the iPod cable and the TA announcements are still too loud even with the iPod through the adaptor cable and not the Aux cable. My old CLS used to let you adjust the volume while a TA was on and it would remember that setting, the W204 unit does not seem to do that as I get blasted with very loud TA when listening to the iPod regardless of how I set it. If I turn down the TA then when it finishes the music from the iPod is at that volume.

It's just a bit cr@p.

Even more annoying is when some commercial stations 'forget' to turn off the TA flag during some adverts, especially those by station sponsors.

I use the AUX setting because I don't have an iPod - it's a plain old Sansa MP3 player. However, I'm looking at getting an iPod, although if you tell me that there's no difference in TA volume even with the iPod cable, maybe I shouldn't spend the money...

TAs have been a bit scarce for the last couple of days, otherwise I would have tried an experiment. I wonder what will happen if I regulate the volume of the system with the centre volume control knob while the TA is on, and then use the steering column buttons to set the volume of the audio system. I tried it quickly last week - completely unscientific survey of course - and it seemed to work, at least partially. I'll keep listening and trying it out and I'll post results.

Some sets have a menu that lets TA volume be set independently relative to the audio (and the navigation announcements). On others adjust it during an announcement and then it should remember that level.
