'21 C300 Coupe, '20 SLC Final Edition, Peugeot 208 (hers!) and a new Ford Kuga in Russia
Just had a drive of a V60 here in Russia (yes, I'm on my winter break - even though it's more like spring here with no sub zero temps yet!) and am thinking it could make a nice change from the Toyota. I like Volvos having had a faultless S60 a few years ago.

I was wondering, has anyone any real life experience of the new S or V60, particularly in D3 guise>

Ta!

Colleague of mine has a V60 which I drive fairly regular (I drive a V70) Its a nice car and it does what it says on the tin. The reason I went for the V70 over the V60 was Cabin space and load space are smaller in the V60 which did not make it very appealing over the V50 I had at the time. I also thought compared to the V50 the handling and chassis were compromised as the V60 did not corner as good. I'm not sure where Volvo are trying to pitch this car its not a lifestyle estate like the previous V50 nor is it a useable mid size estate. If I were going for a car in this category it would be a BMW 3 series estate

I very nearly bought one when i got the e class but dealers werent doing the right deals new and second hand stock wasnt right.

I like Volvos - good engines, good seats, good image to me. I was looking at D4 which is same engine but more power

They are just about to move away from 5 pot engine to 4 pot which would be good move from efficiency point of view if not character.

In retrospect I wish I had bought the Volvo - absolutely nothing wrong with the E but the Volvo is more me!

I would stay away from the 1.6D engine...its the same Ford/Peugeot engine and it suffers badly from DPF issues. It may be better in the Volvo and with some years of development under its belt, but they are known for giving grief.

That was the case it isn't anymore the Volvo engine in the new cars is significantly different to the earlier cars. I had the 1.6 PSA engine in my V50 and the DPF is a service item and has to be replaced at 80,000 miles never had a problem with the car other than the DPF change as required. Even the early PSA engines used have a better reputation in the Volvo than the Peugeot, Citroen, Ford cars

I drove a V70 1.6d Drive the other day and was amazed at the power, now its got the twin turbo its much better and every bit as good as the 2.0 D3 it also did 67 mpg

Thanks for the views guys! It was the D3 2 litre 5 cylinder I was thinking about. Made a nice noise and pulled quite well.

Also toying with a RAV4, but that's another issue. :D
