Heard a knocking noise coming from the rear of my '75 280CE. Kneeled down to have a look, not expecting to be able to see anything and found the drivers side rear shock almost touching the ground. It was still bolted to a little bit of rust on each bolt but the rust was no longer part of the suspension arm lol.

Anyone know where I can get a new arm and what they're like to fit? I'm guessing not much fun. I'll phone Merc tomorrow but I'm expecting the price to be outrageous.

You should be able to pickup a replacement from a breaker. As far as I know, the suspension is the same for all 114s and 115s.

Yeah got a list of merc breakers from IN Auto's, going to try them all monday. They seem to reckon the rear arms are the same part number as 107's, 123's, 126's and 116's as well.

I scrapped a 114 280E about 3 months ago, it had lots of good parts, but I think you should finish it easy enough to source the item.

I've orderd one from Mercman. £204 inc VAT and shipping for a used one. Going to get it sand blasted, powder coated and rust proofed. Hopefully it will last another 40 years.

Nice one!
