Hello,

So, i'm new to mercs, new to autos and new to LPG, all of which i need help with.

Firstly, my car starts on LPG, but struggles to start of fuel, i think i know which is the fuel line, but it doesn't seem to run to where i thought it would (Sorry for these very basic questions for you experts), i can hear the fuel pump going when switched to petrol, but i'd just like to check if it's actually working.

Also, due to me being on LPG, the carb has had to be lifted, so i'm looking to get an after marky pancake filter as the stock one no longer fits, can anyone reccomend a good filter or any other solution?

Im also wondering what the paddle on the carb does, and why the carb is so dirty....

it'd be great if someone could point out the various components, i understand the main ones, but like i wanted to change the oil filer, yet i had no idea where it was....

Any help would be great appreciated.

Thanks :dk:

IF that were my car id bin the LPG system and get it all back to stock. Problem solving when LPG is involved becomes a nightmare. However if you say thats working then maybe leave it in.

The item you call the carb is actually the air flow meter. The bit with all the pipes going into it is the fuel injector distributor.. Either of these can cause problems and when replacing you should replace both together.

That air flow meter flap is very dirty... and I dont recall any ever having that shiny silver disc in the middle.. looks like its been messed with.

Hard starting on fuel could be down to an air leak or incorrect CO adjustment or a number of other things really.
CO is the first thing id get right, you need a friendly MOT station to let you measure the CO at warm idle... anything between 1.5-2.5 is in the right area. Its adjusted by sending a 3mm allen key down the hole in the air filter housing and by slight turns. It takes a while for the change to take effect on the CO meter, so you need to be patient.
Although id ask a garage to do this for you.

The oil filter is in a canister mounted on the side of the engine... Its got a 13mm bolt on it and the filter is inside.

Im assuming you do have the air filter housing?

i do have the air filter housing, but i'm currently in the process of sourcing a pancake type filter as it doesn't fit properly due to the installation of the LPG, the inlet hole is 110mm and i'm currently looking at getting this that'd fit, just not too sure if it'd affect performance. eBay - The UK's Online Marketplace
