Dear all,

I have a w123 that has a intermittent instrument cluster light! Has anybody encountered this before and can advise me on a solution?!!

Thanks Cb

The W123 rheostat can be stripped, cleaned, and reassembled.

Yesterday I took out the instrument cluster cleaned the rheostat with some WD40, whilst
Taking care not to lose the springs!! When put back the lights on the cluster were glowing as bright as the day she rolled off the line!!

I have to say, I felt quite chuffed with myself!
The W123 gives satisfaction in many ways, not least in the way that you can tinker with it in a way you just can't with modern cars!

I've only had my 280ce coupe two months now and I love her more every day!!

When I borrowed the hooks to pull the dash from mine to do the same job, the guy loaning me them (ex MB technician) told me 'everything on a W123 comes apart'. How true!
