w124 230e mpg

Hi All

I'm looking at buying a W124. Overall condition is the most important thing for me, closely followed by economy, which rules out the +3litre cars for me.

There's a 1991 230e auto saloon for sale with leather that's caught my eye. How's the mpg on these?

I've also been looking at W124 E220's, would the 230e feel much different?

26mpg average is what I got in mine. 220 will be a little livelier due to its higher revving engine. Similar economy.

There is not much difference in fuel consumption between the 4 and 6 cylinder engines. Our E280 seems to do around 25 in general use, 30-32 on long motorway runs. I would buy on condition and history rather than any specific engine type.
