Mr Toad !! :D

The engine looks pretty sad.

The climate in the Isle of Man is similar to N-Irleand. Wet and Miserable Rust and Damp.

Female Co Director my ass. Would a female co director really choose it as a co car. >? Really.

The Wings were fooked. Respray em and you'll need to repsray the rest.

so dont be saddened by the £950. I think the punter did well.

everyone expects a storming deal on Ebay.

Dont ever expect a decent price (as the seller ) on ebay.

just my IMHO.,

Agreed Engine looks very dirty for a benz with that mileage if its been serviced well. there appears to be bit of oil "blow" round the filler cap. Scuffed front bumper rusty wings, well worn tyres, peppered air con pipes ( dieselmans tip) and non original alloys ( that design didn' come out till the first C class 1993 ??. ) All the appearance of a high mileage neglected car IMHO.

just spotted the age of this post :) but always good practice for assessing cars.;)

Now hang on... I may not be female, and my car my be better than that one, but it's still 12 years old and I choose to use it as my main business car (although it's owned by me, not my company).

It hasn't got aircon...

I have to be honest, my engine is quite like that ....

Don't want to spray water around under there in case something something terrible happens ...... its only a bit of dust anyway . I agree though , wipe up any oil spills however minor .....

I have a bit of rust on my front arches , but it's not because it's neglected , just that i have to get things sorted out as and when i can afford it ..... :( not that i dont want to or dont care ......

Me too. I had VR6 4 Motion and gave it back to Gordon Brown. Most of it anyway.

I then spent £2500 in Oct 2004 on a mint 120k 2 Owner 300CE.

Since then I have thrown some of my co car allowance at it and have fitted four new Michelins. Refurbed the Alloys, Replaced the Engine Mounts, New Rad, New Stereo,Replaced the Distributer and leads. replaced the relays. new bumper inserts and removed dents and scratches, sterring damper, and new rubber all over the place.

now everything works, its very very smooth.

Spent probably £1800 on it over two years done 16,000 miles, insurance is a piddly £200 Comp.

Offset against depreciation - I think i'd still get over 2k for it. I'm still laughing.

eveytime I replace something it improves a bit.

hopefully wont have to fork out much else now other than servicing.

Are you sure it was 'mint'? ;)

Mine cost me a lot more than 2.5k, and paying myself a car allowance is moot really, but my point was that I've chosen to drive a 'classic' rather than spend (either personally, or through my business) £30k plus on a new car. My car serves me well for business; it's often a good thing not turn up at a client's in a new car; my coupe is a conversation starter; and, frankly, I've better things to spend my money on that a new Mercedes, which it seems would keep letting me down.
