Apologies if this is wrong place to post this.

Please Help anyone, I am going crazy.
After driving the car for a while (appx.20mins-Once its warmed up), every time I brake especially when braking slowly (gradually) you could hear like a crinch/squek, I tried spraying some silicon spray on the spring of the brake pedal, but it didn't help, I also noticed sometimes when turning right at slow speed, I get that very similar noise.,Funny thing is when the car is cold it doesn't make any noise. It feels like its coming from the inside of the car, near the brake pedal,as it happens more when appling the pedal.,Has anyone had any similar problem, and if so how did you cure it, also if anyone could please suggest what or where to check.
Could it be possible for the brake pedal to get loose anywhere, or the spring needs replacing, i don't know, it could be something totally different to what Iam thinking.

So please help guys, its driving me crazy. - Thanks.

Are you sure it isn't a squeaky suspension bush.

Thanks Dieselman - for the reply, suspencion bush, where is this, and is there a way of checking this??,do excuse my ignorance. This might sound like a silly question, iam taking it for granted that you are not talking about the actual suspencion (Shocks+Springs) of the car.

Dieselman you were right, got it checked as each day i was driving it, the noise was getting worse and clearer to source it, which was definately from the outside of the car.It turns out to be the Wishbone bushes (I think he said it was the ball joints), but said Will have to change the complete wishbone, as they do not come in bits unlike alot of other cars whereby you could just change the bushes.Anyway I wasn't too happy with that, especially after he said it would be advisable to change both sides, for which the total price would be around £300 - £350.Luckily one of the other guys had a thorough look and said the joint has got dry, could try by spraying some kind of grease which in some cases it has solved the problem for a good number of months - could this be right??.It's been 3 days since and thank God the noise hasn't appeared so far, lets see (fingers crossed). Will keep you guys posted.

FYI the repair kit is available part number A1243300575 price approx £40

Bushes or balljoint?

Is the problem bushes, balljoints or both? Balljoints are £13 each from Mercedes for a W124. If it's the bushes on the wishbone then you may need to replace the wishbone

By lubricating the bush all you're doing is to delay fixing the problem. Do it properly & replace the worn part(s). Do not put off replacing the balljoints

I think you need to find a good local specialist who you can trust

Thanks guys for all the advise, have been back today to the garage, funny they had a test drive, and said stop worrying, if it gets any worse we will look at it.Its crazy that sometimes you call the garage to get something checked and when you get there nothing wrong happens??.

Yes when I ran the same model a few years ago I got the same problem, turning right at slow speed using brakes, you may laugh but in the end the problem was, don't ask why or how, the heater fan blower, try and put the heater fan on a higher speed or even switch off, see what happens, in the end my blower packet up

The car has two wishbones (also known as control arms), one each side of car.

Each wishbone has two sets of bushes AND one ball joint.

The ball joint is absolutely crucial to the integrity of the suspension. In other words the suspension will collapse if the ball joint breaks.

Ideally the ball joint needs testing after it has been disconected from the steering knuckle (just one bolt needs to be undone after the front suspension spring has been compressed to relieve the tension on the wishbone.

Any competent Merc specialist can do the above quickly (they will need the special spring compressor).

If the ball joint needs replacing on the later W124 with the larger engines then the whole wishbone has to be replaced, as the ball joint is a welded integral part of the wishbone (on mine anyway - your's may be different).

Cost of wishbone from Merc is around the £200 ish mark.

Regards
