Hi all!! first what I've done to my car, front suspension complete rebuild except shocks, rear suspension complete rebuild except shocks. all using original MB or Lemforder parts. car is on lowered springs 30mm. complete wheel allingment done. problem i'm getting is when travelling 60-70 + under side winds car doesn't go straight, need to correct the track with steering wheel. do you guys think shocks are causing this?? or what else?? any help much apritiate.
thanks

Obviously wind does effect it but I wonder how your alignemnt looked like. There are a lot of factors that effect how it drives. Width of your tires, camber, caster, toe, trust angle and condition of your suspension. I would say that proper 4 wheel alignment can correct problems like that.

If you're driving in a side wind, you're going to need to steer against it; no amount of playing with the suspension or tracking will cure that, it's just physics.

Have you replaced the steering damper? If not, it's £20 for a new one and two bolts to undo.

once again there is no old part on my suspension except for shocks, i was thinking maybe steering box is on way out?? car has done just over 200k, and 4 wheel laser alingment done by local garage.

You say laser alignment was this a full geometry type that's measured the castor and given you a printout or simple four wheel laser alignment with no castor measurment and no printout.

please remember that a car is low:

If you lowered and as I m guessing you running on low profile tires then this camber is to low. You would gain a bit on handling by getting close to -0.5 deg on front and -1.0 to -1.5 on a back.

Lowering caster would stiffen sterring a little bit as well.

the rear camber is significantly different, left to right side.

why is that ????????????????

I know it is not adjustable, but something is out.

Did you renew the lower rear spring links and also the wheel carrier bearings that these spring links fix to ????????
