Hi,

At the weekend I am hoping to look at a W124 with the 3.0 24V engine.

I've had W124's in the past, but never with this engine.

Does it have the same issues with wiring looms and head gaskets as the E320?

Any other issues particular to this model of W124 that would be worth knowing before viewing?

It has a 4 speed auto so that should be fine.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Loom no, head gasket yes.

Mine was always noisier at tick over than the neighbour's E320 Cab.

Cracking engine, I miss mine (a bit) :)

Check engine mountings, exhaust and suspension. Rear bushes (sub frame) should be looked at too.

I love mine :D

They go well  just watch the horizon come towards you at a great rate of knots.

No problems with mine , although the original engine in my 300-24 had to be replaced prematurely at only 380,000 miles ; when I got the car with its replacement engine it only had 60K on it and drove like new .

Thank you very much, soundsl ike this might be fun!
