W124 500e

As nice as it is it is a high-miler and very overpriced.

I think that £4995 is its money.

I think there was a blog on this very car once, driving diaries or something like that which I read. The owner told the story of how he aquired it, used it for long drives and also on the track every now and then (had a picture of him wearing a helmet in the car as he was approaching a corner). Sounds like its lived a really hard life, I would'nt touch it.

Correct me if im wrong though, might have been another that looked exactly like this but the number plate looks very familiar (aside from seeing it on pistonheads)

This one has just popped up
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170321225779

A lot of similarities to the one the OP linked to, but I am not sure it is the same car as it has a different reg date, the number plates are different, but the private plate may have come off.

Anyway if it is different it is very similar.

That's just too much money for a 190,000 mile car no matter what the provenance.

If Mercedes had ever made a UK RHD drive version they would command a fortune, but the fact is there are so many available in Europe it actually devalues the cars that are here as the penalty for a Euro import is having to put up with the LHD business.

I like these cars a great deal but LHD puts me off them and as a rsult it reduced the possible audience for the car substantially.

I agree somewhat - I know a 124 is a strong old thing (my 124 estate has done 194k), but if I was buying a specialist car like this for big money I'd perhaps want a lower mileage one, if for nothing other than to preserve it's resale value.

I accept that it might still be a nice car and drive well - but lower mileage ones aren't all that much more expensive - and this seems to be holding the sale back IMHO.

If it was cheaper, it'd surely sell?
