W124 central locking

I have just noticed something with my central locking.

My W124 unlocks and locks all doors from the driver's door perfectly, either from the outside using the key or from the inside.

It also unlocks all doors from the outside with the key on the passenger's door, but does not open the other doors if you open it from the inside. Also, if you lock it from either the inside or outside on the passenger's door, it only locks that one door, and not the others.

Stupid question, but is this a fault or just the way it is?

Don't ask me, I've just discovered my 'comfort control' thingy after 8 months ownership.

I guess I'll have to try mine today.

The driver's door is "the master" in the central locking system so its probably a reflection of this.

edit:- its also something to do with a passenger ( perhaps a child) inadvertently locking the car with the keys still in the ignition but I'm not exactly sure of the logic
