Hi

I have recently had a full service done on my 1990 CE-230 and the guy at the garage said he checked over everything and all is good. After driving 30 miles today the coolant light came on and stays on, the temp gauge is fine no signs of over heating or any funny smells or smoke from the engine pulled over in a service checked level all ok. so I carried on my journey (further 25miles) everything is ok and and again no change to temp or signs of engine problems.

I have asked a friend and he has told me it means the car needs a coolant service, but I didn't think a car of this age would have a warning for coolant service.

Any ideas of what this could be?

It will be either a low coolant level or the sensor is duff. Did you check the level?

The light does not mean it needs a change.

Yes checked level and seemed ok

Great will get that checked out :) Thanks "BlackC55" appreciate it

REI, i think the sensor may also be connected to the windscreen washer level? Might be worth checking the level here as well.
