Its the first time I've tried the diy approach to car ownership.

So I brought myself a Haynes manual, and it says about removing the retaining clip and then remove the handle, first part I've got, the second part I can't figure out how to remove the handle.

Please any advice or help and I'd very grateful, like I said I'm a total novice to this car diy thing.

Do you mean the arm for adjusting a manual mirror? If so after removing the plastic retaining clip the handle should pull off. After that you need to remove the triangle trim which I cant remember exactly but i think you pull outwards from the top and the upwards once. Be carful not to damage the plastic tabs. next you will find three screws which hold the mirror to the door.

Good luck.

Good stuff as my recently purchased 300TE needs the drivers side door mirror sorting out.
OP doesn't mention which side is a problem?

Just tested what i posted and the handle comes off by pulling in the direction of your window and not towards your instrument cluster as you may first think.

Congratulations, you now have a damaged locator handle.

Thanks guys

Thanks for the suggestions and help, will have a look at it tomorrow, as I want to give it a whole day.

Will let know I get on, hopefully their won't be to much bad language.

Update

Hi

Thanks for all the help, got the mirror off the car no problem, but then the problems started, I think it must have been hit, as I found bits of plastic and metal inside, not salvageable so I'm looking into finding a complete new unit.
