Hopefully someone can help....

I've taken apart the 722.4 transmission on my 95 e300 d as I suspected there was a B2 problem.

I found this instruction book:

http://avtopedia.ru/akpp/722-3 722-4.pdf

Now, on page 47, it refers to one way valves (item 49), but I can't see any one way valves at all in the transmission, or on the big plate that is sandwiched by the valve body. I think the book is referring to a 722.3 transmission here (p 47) so hopefully there aren't any equivalent valves on the 722.4 that can be removed at this stage (or fall out).

Does anyone know if there should be any little bits to look out for apart from the oil deflector (119) and temperature throttle (117) on the 722.4?

I'm worried that there was a valve and it might have fallen out when I removed the plate...

Any advice appreciated.

B2 or not B2, that is the question

Cracked B2 band. The thrust pin has punched right through.

B2 piston looks OK though.

I'm going to weld a sort of flange to the thrust pin to push the band either side of what used to be the cup. Can't see any reason why this won't work and the tranny looks in good condition otherwise.

In this pic, should there be any small parts apart from the temperature throttle and deflector in the galleries of the transmission?

Top tip:
To get enough clearance to remove B2 piston, you have to wedge the transmission across. This can be done in a safe and controlled manner by bodging a bracket to bolt to one of the transmission support mounts and winding it over with a G clamp, thus:
