Hi Guys

I have just had Eibach Pro springs fitted to my car, They feel great compared to my older sportline springs.

I have a question about my ride height, the rear sits slightly higher than the front as you can see in the attachments. I have 1 nib spring pad (8mm) on the front and 2 nib (13mm) on the rear. I am going to get 1 nib fitted to the rear on monday but was wondering anyones thoughts on this and if you have had the same experience.

I want to level the ride height ideally a little more so would the 1 nib pad make much difference or would it be worth increasing the front instead?

Any feedback is welcome.

cheers

Andy

While the spring pads go in steps of 5mm they result in around an 8mm difference in ride height due to suspension geometry

I get it looks slightly 'nose down' based on wheel arch gaps but that's fairly normal (more noticable on estates but applies to most 124s), the trim line on the cladding and the sill looks near as damn it horizontal to me. Personally i think it'd look more wrong if either of those lines ran downhill towards the back of the car. Wouldn't help aerodynamic stability either

Have you changed the dampers or are they origional? They're gas charged and can have a small effect on ride height, if origional the fronts are likely to be more 'tired' than the rears as the engine isn't an optional passenger...

Thanks for your reassurance hotrodder, the shocks are original. They are sachs and the car originally had sport chassis. I dont think the car looks hideous and would hate it if it was the other way where the rear looks saggy.

I think going with the 1 nib rear pad it would settle the rear slightly more as its only fractional. I im confident this should make a slight difference.

i do like the nose down look and like you say this is a standard look for the W124's

What happens when you have a load in the back? I've kept a slightly 'rear up' stance on mine with Bilstein B12 springs and dampers. In fact, it was 'rear up' when it had the original Sportline setup.

As I get older and only now use it on longer journeys, I'm beginning to think of going back to the slightly more civilised Sportline setup. Higher all round and I suppose my son won't approve. Either way, 'rear up' makes sense to me for those times when stuff is in the back.

Just my 2c worth.

Best to all.

Better aero too with a higher rear, it is the way it should be, maybe leave it as it is - I would.

That's two of us!

I wish mine had the self-levelling on the back like the old 280TE did. That was great.

the shocks are original.

On an older car like yours I would change the shocks also, may or may not change the ride height, fair chance it will. The original shocks will find it more difficult to control the new Eibach springs.

Thanks guys, appreciate your commenta above. A few people have told me now to keep it as it is. I guess its personal preference with these set ups.

I rarely carry anyone in the back and the seats look brand new, I do get your point about the extra weight if required.
