Anyone know the correct unladen ride height for a 1994 W124 E220? Mine has 205 R15 tyres on at the moment (I think) if that makes any difference.

I presume I measure from ground to edge of centre of wheel arch?

It's simply a question of ensuring that the car sits level, so that the botton of the sill is parallel with the ground.
Unless you've got a fault with your car that's making it ride too high.....

W124 estates normally sit a bit tail-high. You can raise the rear end by tweaking the self-levelling but they won't go lower than the normal static height set by the rear springs

This car rides pretty high at the front - sign of a car that's never done much hard work - but it's still a little higher at the rear

That is a handsome beast! I am still strangly drawn to the W124 wagons. But I had to get a S202 wagon instead due to my girlfriend wanting to drive it.

Thanks chaps, I always think mine is a little lower on one side but as its usually parked sideways on a incline it may just look that way, I'll check it on a level surface at the weekend. I had it in the mechanics the other day to have the rear suspension checked as the passenger side seemed a bit bouncy/hard over speed bumps etc but fine on normal road, he said 2 bushings seemed a bit worn and he'd replace them first. Does that seem related to a very minor drop in ride height on the same side?

I assume the springs have been checked as its common for the tips to break and it is not easy to see the damage as its often such a small bit thats broken off.

To check the height, measure between the top of the wheel arch and the centre of the wheel and compare.
