Would a w210 saloon rear exhaust fit my 1990 300ce?

Im keen to get a amg rear box and spotted one from a w210 but wasn't sure if it would fit.

Any ideas?

Cheers
Scott

They will fit if you modify the mountings, I've got a E55 amg rear box on my s124 E300 diesel.:D

Happy days thanks. I guess my man at the bodyshop can weld the mounts.

Cheers

I havnt purchased one yet im afraid.

I saw one last week for an e55 but didnt go fit it as I wasnt sure if it would fit. Its gone and wished I had just bought the thing now as it was cheap at 200.

I spotted one on ebay but I fear its not an amg one. If you search remus back box it will pop up. Think it might be for a e36.

Cheap enough tho.

That back box on ebay is not amg, Remus is a good make though and they do sound nice. There is a remus box fitted to my saloon, lovely deep note.:thumb:

How about removing your car's exhaust resonator, and then fitting amg tips to the old rear box?

Thanks.

Hmm. So, should I hold out for another amg one to pop up or take a pop at the remus one at half the price?

What would you do?

I'd buy the remus one, but you may want to take an inch out of both tail pipes before you fit it.

There is an e55 rear box on ebay for 220, but that would need your center exhaust section changing to make it fit.

Thats odd I can't find the e55 one. I wounder if its the one I saw last week. Can you send me the link please?

The full exhaust was replaced a couple years ago so im guessing it would easy enough to fabricate.

Another W124 exhaust query!

I need a new back box for my 1996 (W124) coupe. As I only drive the car during the summer months it sits around a lot which seems to accelerate the rotting of mild steel exhausts. So, I'm wondering if it would be worth replacing it with a stainless steel unit? Some questions:

Can I assume that the other sections of the exhaust will rust out in the near future?
Can I get a stainless steel exhaust for this car (2.2 petrol)?
If so, is is a full one-piece exhaust or does it come in seperate components?
Will a S.S. exhaust change the note of my car (Don't want it to sound like a WRX)
Any good leads on where to acquire one?

Many thanks,

soarhead

soarhead:Billyw124 might have a backbox for your coupe, worth a try

I have an e55 AMG back box fitted to my e240 which I am currently breaking. I have already modified with a Y the two into one pipe. Please PM me if interested.

Remus exhaust purchased and awaiting delivery.

Won't get fitted till I have the full amg kit on the car but it will sit in the garage attic till then!

Easy answer follows:

It's quite hard to make it sound like a WRX anyway as they have boxer engines with unequal length manifolds. That then manifests itself as a unique "burble" - a bit like doing the V8 sound on pennies..

anyhoo - just get a custom stainless steel system made to your requirements. Should work out for the best both financially and audibly.

Should I plan to have the middle box removed when having the new Remus back box fitted then and is there anything else I should consider?( one of my learned pals suggested an induction kit as well?!)

Dont touch the center section, it will actully loose power if you alter that. Best thing to do is to remove the resonator from the front section, that makes a big difference.

Induction kits on your engine are not needed, your car has a cold air intake from the factory.:thumb:

Ok ta. I'm not a spanner monkey and thus not sure what the front resonator looks like or lives and thus will leave my man in the garage to resolve. Is it a simple cut out and replace with pipe job then?!
