W124 Flex Disk broke?

Good Afternoon Guys

I have just experienced something odd, i pulled off from stand still in my car and the next thing there was a loud "boom" from below and the car just revved and went no where.

Cars selects all gears fine, just no drive and when i put the car back in to park theres a little metallic rattle thats slows down as if it was spinning.

I hope its not the worst case scenario and the transmission is dead so im being hopefull and thinking that the flex disk coupling has failed!

I managed to tow the car to my local MB specialist which luckily enough was a mile away from where it happend. Hopefully they can take a look on Tuesday.

I wantes to ask if anyone has experienced this before and could reassure me a little it is the flex disk

I doubt it is the coupling but you never know.

If its not the flex disk what could it be?

It seems to me it could be the flex disc has broken, cant get under the car to see but its at my specialist so hopefully it is that!.

My money is on it being a broken driveshaft.

Drive shaft im guessing is expensive. I have been told though that it does sound like the flex disc as a friend experienced something similar and that was the problem.

Gone back to the car today, spot on guys nearside drive shaft has snapped. A relief all being well as thought it was worse than that!
