Car is 95 e300d estate - I noticed today that there was a small pool of rain water just trapped under the bottom of the brake servo. I checked that the main drain hole by the o/s wing is clear - which it is now - but this water is below that level so can not drain away there. I assume there is another (blocked) drain hole but can not find it and it is real difficult to get underneath the servo. It has only just started doing this so something is amiiss - any pointers please?

Check the drain oles from the heater scuttle, they clog up too.

Where do I find those Ian?
Are they down where the blower motor is - or can I see them under the bonnet without dismantling?

In the centre of the scuttle there is a tab on a perforated cover. Lift the tab and remove the cover. Under it are two drain holes that are seldom tended too. Worth a look and clean out.

Ian, have checked there - all perfectly clear - never checked it in 10 years of ownership though!

The small pool of water was right below the brake servo so much lower down than the place you suggested. The panel has a slight recess to allow the servo to fit in place - and the water was in that dip. It has now dispersed as I have used the car - but if there is a drain down there I would like to clear it out rather than keep checking it - any idea if there is anything underneath - the only access seems to be via the bulkhead or a lot of removal of servo and wiring + heater pipes - seems badly designed if there is a drain down there?

My bet is that it uses the drain next to the wing?

The trim panel under the windscreen drains at each end via a pipe that leads down in the gap between the fuse box and the inner wing. I suspect the only drain for the area under the servo is via this opening

I use a hoover with a crevice nozzle to hoover out this area and to remove leaves & debris. If you hoover the area between the fusebox and the inner wing you may clear the blockage, if there is one. It's not that easy to get at

Nick,

I think that you are probably right - I did clear the drain hole out in the top of the inner wing - there was an acorn stuck in the top of the hole next to the drain pipe that feeds through the same hole. I also hoovered out a few leaves from that area - as you say it is difficult to get to with heater pipes and vacuum pipes getting in the way. Once I had done that the small bit under the servo did not drain away towards the inner wing - the rest of the water did. It has now dried out so I am going to just keep an eye on it.
