Hello gents been a while since I have been on here. In my old age I have become obsessed with dropping a 55 or 63 Block into a W124 and build my own Hammer hommage. Is anyone aware of anyone having done these kinds of conversions or have any recomendations of companies that specialize.

All the very best and stay safe, Bruce

Watching this one with interest. It better be an wagon.

i really fancy a saloon. I have just always loved the W124 with boot lip and the black wheels. If I could make it work for not all the money in the world I would have to give it a serious go

Copart is a source of big engined crashed Mercedes, ideal as long as they have been rear ended.

Just watch there very expensive delivery charges which at the moment is the only delivery option i believe.

Its all do-able but I will be an expensive conversion. Finding a good solid 124 is becoming a rare thing. I'd go for a 55K engine :)

Drop a 6.2 in and put a 3rd pedal in for good measure. 6 speed manual would be an animal.

It's not difficult to throw parts together and make it go (blue pill). Takes a lot more hours to make it look and function like OEM (red pill).

And yes, of course an M113K. Ideally with a manual gearbox and standalone ECU like in my E55 (red pill).

Leave the M156 for the exhaust revvin', look-at-me rollin', burnout boyzzz (blue pill). Unless you supercharge it - the closest you can ever get to the holy grail M113K (red again).

Choose wisely. There's no turning back after this.

Doing a RHD conversion might be easier than building from scratch.

Or go complete gangsta RHD it and put in a tuned M157

Sadly not that involved in this forum that much anymore but this is the sort of thing @carat 3.6 does, have a look through his posting history for clues on the conversions he’s done (he also did Bruce Miller’s Shogun iirc)

Put that big N/A 6.2 in and feel real high revving natural power.

Can't imagine how fantastic it would be with a manual box in the 124 shell.

This very car was part of the reason that the madness set in

I am at a very similar stage with my saloon. Really want to go down the M119 route as don’t want to section the chassis rails but would consider a later engine on stand-alone management but it gets complicated with auto box. Good luck with it. 66E3E2B8-945A-4880-BCEA-2BBED6097850.jpeg

That grill needs to go. 🤮
It is definitely going. Thinking of getting the chrome painted in body colour and blacking out a standard centre.
Might keep the sight on the front.
