w124 sportline cab - new wheels??

I have a 94 Sportline Convertible with slightly scabby 8 hole alloys that let it down badly. The tyres are 205/60 R15. I am looking to buy a set of 8 holes off an SL 500, but these are 225/55 R16.
Will they fit without rubbing on bodywork, taking different offset and lowered suspension into account?
Hope someone can help.

Hi Tony,
I have the same car same 15" wheels and had exactly the same idea as you - as I used to have a 129 SL500 with 8 hole 16" wheels on it. Apparently they are different though and will not fit the W124. There are some 8 hole alloys 16" that will fit the W124 - I think they were on early W140s but I do not know the part number.
I decided it was too diffcult in the end and had my 15" refurbished - Pristine Wheels did an exchange service - not cheap but good.

Why not go for a set of AMG Aero II's, they come in 17" with a et42 offset for the w124.
