I wanted to try and paint the bolster on my drivers seat, but I am struggling to find leather seat paint for the job? Now, I know that there are people out there who will paint the seats in situ (and that may be an option) but I wanted to have a go at the bolster myself.

Can anybody help me with a UK paint supplier who can provide this paint in an aerosol?

The code (I believe) is 265. Which should be for Mushroom/Creme.

Thank you.

Bruce

Gliptone (Liquid Leather) should be able to supply what you need

Thanks for this. I had looked at their stuff before posting. I do like Gliptone products and use their leather care stuff with great success. I am unsure about whether they can do this, as all I find refers to dyes? Anyway. I have mailed them the question and asked for their opinion. Lets see what they come back with.

Thanks again.

Bruce

They are dyes to be applied. Furniture Clinic do a sprayable product but you need to check they have your colour. Personally I just get a good sprayer to do mine, his results are generally fabulous (and colour matched to the entire interior not the leather colour as it was originally).

This looks brilliant and the exact thing I have been looking for. Great info on their site regarding years of manufacture etc. I had to go with matching a photo of my interior, with a photo of their interior(s). This is because my interior (Sportline) is not original to the car. I have no idea what age the interior is. But The mushroom looks to be several shades darker in their pics than my interior, which matches their cream.

I have gone with their cream and top coat lacqquer.

Thanks again for the pointer. If it's wrong I will blame you and Charles. I will let you know how I get on.

Maybe do a thing on it when you do it Bruce and we'll see how good it is.

Been thinking of using it myself.

Okay

The paint arrived from Germany. I prepped the seat (as per their instructions) and sprayed. I used a small test paper first to check the amount of over-spray. It is minimal. The width of the spray pattern is about 1" so minimal masking required inside the car.

The colour match is superb!! And the finish is just a perfect match. To be honest I had to strain my eyes when painting to find where I had painted, the only visible sign being the wet sheen before the paint dried.

As per the instructions, I have left it to dry and will then apply their top coat. Filled with confidence I painted my drivers bolster, arm rest and some patches on the rear 7th seat. I did not paint my hands, or my sleeves and have avoided painting any other bits of the car that were not due to be painted. This is good news.

I will post up some pics later today.....

The rose tint on the arm rest is the camera (iphone) honest. The colour is great. This is not a cheap paint to buy. But... it is considerably less than the cost of having them re-painted or re-covered. The paint is flexible and designed for car leather seats, as is the top clear coat. This is made specifically for Mercedes and it shows in the results. I have to say, I am delighted with the results here. It is one of these jobs that actually leave you feeling good that you have achieved something good without losing a weekend and the contents of your wallet. Thank you to WDB124066 for the great link.

This looks good Bruce. My 4matic has a Sportline interior as well but its original. Whilst the interior is beige, the seats, front and rear, are mushroom.

I believe that they do the Mushroom paint.

My neighbour ( I now find) used their dark grey paint on his SLK center console. He was also hugely impressed with the colour natch & finish.

The driver's bolster in my 300ce is a bit scuffed but not ripped so will this kit get it looking as good as new again? The colour is black.

....possibly a bit subjective here ;ˆ) I would say you would not be disappointed. If you prep carefully and follow the instructions, then it will certainly do a great job. Remember you are just painting the scratches not filling them!! So the scratches still remain, just not as visible (if at all).

The Cream Leather that I did had the usual drivers bolster cracks and crevices but no rips. A clean with some wire wool and leather cleaner followed by a wipe over with some panel wipe to remove any grease or silicone, then waft over using no masking to allow some over-spray to blend, gives the results you see in my pics. To be honest the blending bit was not required as the colour match is so good you could not see it anyway.

If it goes wrong you are out £50 as opposed to a new seat. or recover, or £150 to pay a professional.

You're welcome. :)

I wonder if they do a filler, must look at their site again...

Name's not Marc by any chance is it?
