recently the boot lock on my w124 te started to stick so are started opening the boot from the inside. This got to the point where it was getting more and more difficult as the force require to pull the lever became harder and then i heard the connected rod pop out. i removed the lower plastic trim and carpet to get access to the mechanism and slowly started to pull the closer mechanism out. I released two connected rods which where quite straight forward and found one loose. i looked at the mechanism for hours now (cleaned and lubed up now) and cant find out where the final rods supposed to be connected too? also now the mechanism is locked so i cant even close the boot! do i need a new closer lock??
help.

One rod goes to the vacuum release solenoid and the other to the internal boot release lever

If you open the tailgate, drop the trim & remove the rods you will be able to remove the entire lock mechanism. It's relatively easy to remove and very difficult to replace

The lock barrel assembly is separate to the lock assembly so you may be able to see what the problem is

I've never found a lock assembly with a problem. Normally the servo motor & lock barrels are the weak link

thanks

One rod goes to the vacuum release solenoid, another to the internal boot release lever and the third to the internal lock pushbutton
