Ok gang ...

Just been hoovering the boot and in the wells i discover it's damp in both wells

Haul everything out and it's only the bottom piece of trim that is damp , not wet ... along with my A to Z and my oil wiping cloth....

Pull these up and there are two drain holes , both blocked  so clean them out ...

Question is, how does water get in in the first place ? the exit holes are behind the rear flaps and protected by a tube so i doubt water would have come in up the tube ...

There is no damp anywhere else ( if the lid was leaking, the upper trim would be damp ) ...

All drain channels round rear screen are clear and around bootlid rubbers ...

Any ideas ? I've had a shufty round and there are no other holes that water could ingress in through .... so i'm stumped ..

Will leave the boot open all day Sunday to let it dry , we've got 16 degrees forecast here :bannana:

My saloon leaked through both rear lamp seals. % minutes with some caravan non hardening bedding sealant cured the job permanatly...well until it was knicked anyway:(

I had this problem with the SEC mainly condensation i thought, also when I had the roof lining out, you can see there is 4 pipes 2 front 2 rear that come from the sunroof panel i assume to catch the condensation that drains out through the boot and the front pillars...

Also could be the rear lights as Dean said...

Condensation in the boot because of the heat build-up after stopping from the rear silencer. It forms on the inside surface of the body of the car behind the trim, then runs down to the lowest point, usually the wells.

I was told once that if possible it's a good idea to leave the bootlid open after a journey to let the heat dissapate. Of course only really possible if you have a garage. ;)

That's interesting Bill because the dampest well is the one above the silencer ...

The other one isn't too bad ....

Been open all day and not dry yet :(

Hope it's sunny tomorrow ...
