I've seen a 560SEL that I'm interested in but wondered if anyone know the exact length of this car? I've seen differing lengths for the UK and US cars.

The car I'm interested in is definitely a UK car.

The only reason I ask is the wife will go ballistic if I put another car on the drive so this one will have to go in the garage.

Before you say put one of the others in the garage - I can't - one is my daily driver (Volvo 850R) and the others are too tall (Motorhome and 4x4).

Don't forget that the SEL is the long wheelbase version of the 126 S-class. It'll be long that's for sure.

If it doesn't fit, maybe a 'standard' wheelbase S-class would be better :)

US versions are longer due to the large bumpers they have.

Will check my manual this evening for exact length if nobody posts up in the meantime.

Problem with short wheelbase is only the 300 and 500 SE versions were done in the UK, no 560 SE.....i had to remove the 3 litre engine in my 300SE and install a 560 to get the decent power !

Thanks for the info. It looks as if it will fit, but that I will only have 6cm to play with. I think I'll have to do some careful measurements to make sure the up and over doors don't scrape the front/rear on the way down.

On a similar note, when driving a LWB s-class, don't expect parking spaces to be large enough:
