W129 steering vs W124?

I have just purchased a 1994 SL 500 with 90K on the clock (backed by full MBSH) and the steering feels less taught than on my 170K mile 300CE sportline - is this surprising or just due to a different mechanical setup?

Are standard wheels on both cars ?

Is the steering wheel on the SL centred properly ie. level and not skewed ?

Perhaps some of the joints on the CE are starting to get stiff.

THE SPORTLINE option on the w201 and w124 ( YOUR COUPE) includes a lower ratio/ higher geared steering box which makes it more responsive. Don't think this was ever an option on the SL. so probably nothing wrong with either car.

I would agree too its the sportline option that gives your w124 a taughter feel cos the stiffer/lower springs and smaller steering wheel will also make a difference.
