W140 diesel

The 3.5 litre diesel is renowned for short life due to being an over-bored 3.0 litre.

"Rod bender 3.5" As the yanks refer to it.

If it has survived 18 years, then the engine should be okay.
At some point, the engines were modified due to the problems they were experiencing.
But this model was never to my knowledge offered in the UK, so how it was not "imported", I don't know. Seems unlikely to me.

Will:A friend of mine has one of these,a believe it or not it has 1.6 million miles on it
I remember driving it around 10 years ago when it had 900k on it and honest mate, you`d have to see the mileage to believe it.

I think the seller is meant to say Not officially imported , ie not for UK market.

My dad had a 95/96 one of these and took it up to 250k no problem. He then replaced it with a '98 s300td...loved them both.
He recently considered going back to lhd and getting an s400cdi.

For that money I would be looking at w220. Yes the 140 is better built but the w220 is just so much never to drive...engine, gearbox, suspension are all leagues ahead on a s320cdi.
