Hello all,

I went to start the car the other day, its a s320 w140. It was idling, i noticed a misfire from exhaust note (i started engine & was outside of car), it then just switched off.

So i got in the car & tried to start it again, which it did but after cranking for about 5 seconds-normally starts straightaway.

The car feels like its choking, running then just cutting off. When i press the gas pedal it hesitates to rev, but then does rev but still misfires & shakes.

The car has been parked up & sorned since october.

I disconnected maf, it was even worse then. Cleaned maf connector with contact cleaner & reconnected. The car runs better with maf on rather than off.

Im puzzled & concerned, please help! Its had new sparkplugs in september

Ps when the car is left to idle, does so whilst shaking & misfiring. The revs start to go down to like 400/300 rpm then eventually it just cuts out. Then to restart it takes like 5-8 seconds of cranking

It could be the loom breaking up. Do a search on here. Common issue.

Blackc55, sorry 9 should have said this is a treg 99 model. I believe the loom issue plagued these cars until 1996?

Anybody else...please advice??
