Hi, first post - I tried to use the search but it doesn't seem to be working...
My wife bought a 2008 (MY09) ML320 CDI in June. It's been no end of hassle since then but thankfully the official approved-used warranty has covered most stuff. One thing they won't cover though is a wing mirror issue.
Basically the off-side wing mirror will often not unfold fully and lock into place. Also we get intermittent warning messages on the info display on the dash about failure of the indicator in that mirror. We took it to the local dealer to get checked out, they say it's the cable within the mirror body that's worn through and the warranty company won't touch it because wiring is specifically excluded. Quote to repair is about £440. Nice.
The service manager said he thought this wasn't uncommon on these cars. Has anyone else experienced this at all? Anyone fixed it themselves, either by repairing the wire or replacing some of the innards of the mirror? If so can I ask where you got the part(s)?
