Does anyone know how to get to the dash lamps that illuminate the LCD display and heater controls on a W168 and what power the bulbs should be?

Are you talking about the instrument cluster illumination?

Just the mileage LCD and the heater knobs.

The cluster has to be removed which is easy enough. The binnacle has to be unclipped by sliding two small screwdrivers either side straight in the small gaps in front of it. Then turn them 90 deg and pul the binnacle firmly toasted you.

Then unscrew the single screw that hold the cluster at the back. Disconnect the electrical connectors. Bingo.

Heater controls?

Lamp wattage?

I have done them but can't recall ATM. They are fiddly IIRC.

Too late Will. I am at home now without WIS!

It is a little different if it is a face lifted car?

This is from memory

Radio out.
Remove screws that the radio hides.
Remove oddments box in front of gear lever
Remove the trim that the centre vents locate onto (depends if face lifted if in one whole part)
There is more I just have to think a min

Right.

Some of the heater dash panel screws should now be visible so you can remove the whole section that reveals the heater controls.

You may have to remove the fan direction knobs depending on variant.

The bulbs should be obvious.

I may have missed a few bits but it must have been 3 years since I have removed one

Having read that I might not offer after all..
