w168 a class headlight/indicator stalk issue ?

I have a 1999 A class with strange headlight issues. When using full beam on indicator stalk (flash or on permanantly), only the passenger side light comes on. If I turn the headlights on with the rotary switch, the drivers side full beam comes on as well. Also, if I just put the sidelights on I intermittantly get one side working and not the other (same with main beam). All bulbs are ok so I suspected a problem with the main headlight on/off switch.

However...

Been doing some surfing and there seems to be a lot of related headlight problems caused by the full beam/indicator stalk. Does anyone know if this can cause strange headlight problems and have anymore information on the matter. Thanks

How do you know all the bulbs are ok, have you tried swapping them around to see if the problem moves with a bulb?

yep all bulbs swapped around. even got a complete set of new bulbs. All lights seem to work at some point, just not how theyre meant to
