Hi All,
I'm new here so please forgive me my mistakes, I bought my car just one week ago.
My A180 2.0D 57reg is making awful noise when on idle it's enough to touch the accelerator and it works fine and it's quiet, when I was testing it I didn't notice, maybe because the surrounding noise from the street or I didn't want to find any problems as I like the car.
Yesterday I put it for service 'A' in Mercedes of Derby and they said that everything is fine, it was serviced from new in MB dealer (50k miles)
I think that something is wrong.
I'm looking for somebody who had similar problems or can help me with mine.
Can anybody recommend MB technician who would be able to listen to the car and give me his opinion.
I'm between Derby and Nottingham.

Thanks in advance

I expect the alternator pulley is the cause. The clutch seizes and causes the belt to flap.

Thanks BlackC55
The noise is like something would rattle, it's not a squeaky, scratchy sound, but even the lightest acceleration makes all fine.
I'm disappointed with MB of Derby that they didn't recognize anything or the office man didn't tell anything to technicians.

Hi All,
Just as an update. The problem was with belt tensioner and pulley system. Complete tensioner replaced. The car has been repaired by MB Service Centre Mansfield. Would highly recommend.
Thanks for reading
