Hi all,

On our W169, the manual mode stays in 1st gear if the gear-shift is moved right(+). Another shift to the right(+) it goes back to (D).

On the ML, I can change the gears 1-4.

Is this normal, while the vehicle is stationary?

Has any other W169 owner had a similar issue and is this the same box on a B-class?

Kind Regards

yes,as i guess it gets reading from a speed sensor.if you moving it will "shift" up.

iwhile you using, can you do manual?if not then sensor fault can be

Are you saying it will only shift up when the car is moving? So every Automatic A-class (CVT) has to be driven when it has a service to check the manual is working? Really? It must be able to select the other gears while stationary?

i just can go by my experience on nissan cvt.but there should not be too much difference.i had step motor and secondary speed sensor fault.the sensor decides what is the speed and regarding to that allows you in manual mode to shift up and down, and moves the stepper to open te right valve to move the transmission steel or chain belt.with faulty sensor it switched back to d.when i replaced it and the step motor inside was still the broken one.wilst driving it only switched up when i reached highet speed.and the switc happened only on the instrument cluster not physically.after stepper replacement it was working normally.on nissan diag tool you can operate the step motor as it has separate control module like the ecu but called TCM.and tcms can be diagnosed with dealership tool.no generic reader does that sadly.
what is your problem with it?

Its not moving up the gear when stationary, which could indicate it is speed responsive. Thanks, I will have another look.
