I have a 1997 C180 and this is regarding the center 2 air vents, they work absolutly fine with normal and cold air, but when the heating is turned on, there is ABSOLUTLY NO hot air blowing through these 2 vents, the side vents are good with heat, but the center vents dont work with heater at all when opened with the heater on they only blow cold air. Ive tried all heating modes and at all speeds.

Any ideas on this ?

Hey Gurpz, panic over this is NORMAL :D just check out your manual if you dont believe me :) you only get heat from the outer vents, merc logic fell short on this one!

Thanks for reply, Sounds rather silly doesnt it for Mercedes to make a mistake like that !!:p

Been doing it for years...

My w124 does the same .....

I don't know if things changed slightly in the 2 years difference between your C180 & my 1999 C250 but I can adjust the temp from the centre face level vents just the same as the others. If one side side the car is on cold and the other hot the face vents react with one cold and one hot.

My 97 C180 blows hot air from these vents too!!! I get the same temperature out of the side vents as the centres.

The middles blow cold if you have climate control and hot or cold if you have air con ....

So what's wrong with my vents? Blue smoke comes out the near side vent, orange out the driver's and green slime out the center and when I press the recirculating button it all gets sucked back in and pumps out all over the windscreen? LOL

PMSL :D

I just spat tea over my desk ......

:bannana: :D :bannana: Happy Sunday:D Has that lock frozen over yet. I am debating going in the garden for a sneaky fag, but I only have my bathrobe on and it looks bloody freezing.

the centre vents only blow cold air. this has something to do with their stupid duo controls. the heat from the outer vents is enough for you anyways. if you want hot air ,just shut the centre vents.

Thanks for that sounds rather stupid dont you think !!!

I have a 1997 w202 update and I can have hot or cold air coming out of all the vents including the center vents.

Do you have the airconditioning option? There are some w202's with no airconditioning, just a hot and cold option so maybe this could be something to do with that system?

yes i have the EC (air conditioning option)

Mine are exactly the same, but I find the one heater on my side is plenty warm enough - too warm!

ive got a c180 1995 with climate control only, centre vents are cold but outer ones and windscreen vents blow hot if i need it

No mistake , and all perfectly logical .

The centre vents are FRESH AIR VENTS , so designed because fresh air helps a driver to remain alert on a long journey , regardless of the ambient temperature set elsewhere in the cabin . Every Mercedes , since opening quarterlights were done away with in the early 1970's have been so equipped .
